YWCA NSW partners with HSBC Australia through a 3 year partnership to deliver Money Savvy, a program aimed at improving the financial literacy of high school students by providing information about debt, savings, and superannuation in fast-paced, interactive workshops. HSBC employees act as mentors during the workshops and help to deliver the program to nearly 2,000 school students across NSW, SA, QLD, WA and Canberra.
HSBC has also provided additional one year funding for Paths to Potential an education program for 15-24 years olds who have either left education early or are at high risk of leaving early which aims to reconnect them with education, training and employment opportunities.
YWCA NSW is a local focus charity for Sydney based Ernst & Young employees. Through this partnership, YWCA NSW receives support in the areas of fundraising, volunteering and skilled expertise with all money being directed towards providing safe and healthy relationship workshops for young people to educate them around bullying, anger management, resilience and domestic & family violence.
Strathearn Insurance has been supporting YWCA NSW for a number of years through their annual Cheese & Wine night. Each year, a new project is supported and last year, the funds raised went towards Books 4 Bubs which targets extremely young, geographically isolated and vulnerable families and provides resources to help them and their children develop pre-literacy and parenting skills within their homes.
YWCA NSW and Macquarie Telecom are working in partnership to provide ‘Making Your Career Real’ workshops. This unique program provides young people, who are at risk of dropping out of school, with the opportunity to visit the Macquarie Telecom offices and to spend the day with Macquarie Telecom employees. Throughout the workshop, students begin to understand the diverse range of career and educational choices available to them and participate in a variety of practical activities aimed at preparing them for applying for jobs and the interview process.
The Ian Potter Foundation has been a loyal supporter of YWCA NSW since 1997. Most recently, The Ian Potter Foundation provided funding over two years towards an education program for young women living in our refuges to up-skill them and provide life skills to better support them into independent living and reengaging them with the community.
Perpetual Philanthropic Services manages funds on behalf of Myee Codrington Foundation for Homeless Women; The Palmdale Trust; and the Enid Irwin Charitable Trust. With support from these organisations, YWCA NSW is delivering a 12 month education program to better support disadvantaged families and women who have experienced domestic violence and are ‘at risk’ of homelessness to increase life skills and build resilience.
Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation is supporting YWCA NSW by providing the set up costs for Pulse Café which provides training and employment opportunities for marginalised and at risk young people living in the Northern Rivers region.
With support from the ING Foundation, YWCA NSW ensures that children attending Bombaderry Primary School have the opportunity to start every school day with a nutritional breakfast in a safe and nurturing environment, in readiness for learning.
In early 2011, we partnered with World Education Australia* to deliver ConnectED - Alcatel Lucent Foundation's global initiative to provide education and digital skills training opportunities for children and youth in disadvantaged areas. ConnectED is focussed in NSW on working with in-school students, who are at risk of disengaging from formal education, and those who have already disengaged from school. The program aims to increase the number of young people who remain in education, go onto higher study or training or who are able to find secure employment.
