This program combines government, training providers and industry leaders in developing and delivering vocational programs targeting skills shortage industries. Each year, this program has achieved employment outcomes in excess of 80%. This program is now delivered by the YWCA in partnership with other training organisations throughout the greater Western Sydney region.
By way of example the very successful partnership between the YWCA South West Region, the Hammond Care Group and the NSW Department of Education & Training (formerly coordinated through the Office of the Minister for Western Sydney) has seen over 100 new Nursing Assistants working in aged care in the Macarthur region. These are unemployed people, the majority being mature-aged women returning to the workforce, that come through the YWCA’s pre-vocational Assistant in Nursing Program which is funded by the NSW Department of Education and Training.
