What We Do
Families
Our programs helping families helped more than 6,412 people in 2008/09.
YWCA NSW develops the life skills of disadvantaged families to enable them to build healthy relationships in order to have a secure and safe environment in which children can thrive.
YWCA NSW also provides crisis support for individuals and families.
This includes:
- Assistance for homeless individuals and families (and those at risk of homelessness) with crisis accommodation, casework and support, advocacy and financial assistance
- Refuge housing for young women and their children
- Support and referrals for people whose lives have been affected by domestic violence
- Awareness and understanding of violence against women through school and community education programs
