Mother Of All Balls Committee

The Mother of All Balls Committee is a volunteer group of talented and passionate women responsible for our primary fundraising event.

Each year the Committee Chair has the task of organising, managing, enticing and cajoling friends, families and business acquaintances to ensure the Ball’s success.

The History of the Mother of All Balls

Our Patron, Rachel Ward AO, was the inspiration behind the Mother of All Balls and it was first held in 2004. Since then it has grown and evolved into YWCA NSW’s primary fundraiser and in 2010 raised nearly $300,000 profit for our mentoring programs with over 500 people in attendance at the Australian Jockey Club in Randwick.

With a Moroccan theme, guests delighted in a three course dinner from Luke Mangan and were enthralled by our camel racing, souk and wonderful MC Julia Zemiro.

No-one throws a party with a twist like the Mother of All Balls and consequently, over the years, the Ball has developed a reputation for attracting the cream of Sydney’s social scene and heavyweight corporate support, all keen to help support disadvantaged families and their children.

Organised by a group of volunteer women, all with very specific skill sets and talents, the theme for the Ball changes each and every year.

"Links to Learning helped me develop a lot when it came to my career path, my behaviour in class and my skills/grades in class. I have learnt to tolerate behaviours and also what it means to work in a team and co-operate with others. These past 3 terms have matured me into a young person with goals that I am determined to achieve" Student 2010
