At Risk Young People

National Green Jobs Corps

National Green Jobs Corps is a Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) funded initiative for young Australian job seekers. The 26-week environmental training program offers young people, aged 17 to 24 years, the right combination of work experience, skill development and accredited training to ensure they are ready for employment in emerging green and climate change industries.

Participants are given the opportunity to participate in hands-on work experience activities and accredited training.

YWCA NSW provides the accredited training component of the Green Corps projects in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions.

Participants, 17-20 years old complete modules towards the Certificate II in Australian Land Conservation and Restoration.

Green Corp projects have included environmental project work at coastal, river, rainforest and bushland sites around the Shoalhaven and incorporate construction and regeneration work.
