It’s tough to find people who are willing to be volunteers. Especially men. But we need you – men and women – for Big Brothers Big Sisters™.
If you’re a guy who has been thinking about becoming a volunteer, is interested in helping a child reach his potential and wants a good excuse to have fun and act like a kid for a couple of hours a week, Big Brothers Big Sisters™ is for you.
And ladies, if you think this could be a great fit for your boyfriend, husband, brother, friend, colleague or you, then it’s time to give YWCA NSW a call.
There are kids in the Eastern Suburbs and Inner West of Sydney who would really benefit from having a Big Brother or Big Sister in their lives and we have more ‘Littles’ than Bigs, which is why we’re looking for you.
If you’re aged 20-40 (more or less) and you have a couple of hours per week to spend with a child who doesn’t have any positive role models… if you’ve always wanted to volunteer and help kids in the community… if you’ve always wanted to be a big brother or sister to a child who will look up to you… and if you live somewhere in the Sydney area where you can help those in the Inner West or Eastern Suburbs, this is the program you’ve been looking for.
Bigs and the Littles (the kids) spend a couple of hours together every week, maybe kicking a football around the park. Bush walking. Walking the dog and having an ice cream. Going to the movies or the library. Doing something simple on a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon. And the Littles really look forward to that time.
It’s very rewarding and you’ll be making an impact on children that will affect them for the rest of their lives.
Become a Big Brother or Big Sister. It’s just a couple of hours a week. You’ll be glad you did.
YWCA NSW is holding an information night at The Forresters Hotel in Surry Hills at 6pm on 27th October (during Youth Mentoring Week, 23-29 October). To register your attendance, call or contact Big Brothers Big Sisters™ on 02 9285 6250 or bbbs@ywcansw.com.au
