On behalf of the YWCA NSW Board, the Mother of All Balls Committee and our Patron Rachel Ward AO, we would like to thank you for supporting this year’s Mother of All Balls – Shanghai Chic, presented by Eagles Rest Wines – on Saturday 12th November. It is the support of people like you which allows YWCA NSW to continue to operate our mentoring programs. Some of the fabulous photos from the night can be seen in an online gallery, accessible by clicking here.
The highlights of the night included our wonderful MC, Richard Wilkins, of course our amazing performers Glenn Shorrock and Wendy Matthews and the spectacular artwork created by Shannon Crees.
The Chinese inspired menu was designed again this year by our good friend, Luke Mangan from Glass Brasserie, supported by the fabulous AJC catering staff. We were lucky, as you know, to enjoy premium wines courtesy of our Presenting Sponsor, Eagles Rest Wines.
We also indulged in Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne, VODKA O, Rosie Cranberry and beer from Peroni.
Rachel Ward and Bryan Brown joined in the fun as did many celebrities and well known faces, from the corporate end of town. A big thanks to our all our regular supporters who are always so generous and join us year upon year.
Our warmest appreciation to our MOAB Event Partner, Workshop Events for producing Shanghai Chic in the spectacular Pavilion which was exquisitely themed and dressed – the entire effect was unique, innovative and a credit to all involved. And our thanks also to Clarke Murphy Print for the beautiful programs and other collateral.
Special thanks to Jacqui Lion Cachet – our auctioneer, the AJC at Randwick and all our generous prize donors including but not limited to Dacou Gallery, Six Senses, Pinctada and Per AQUUM. Such an incredible array of raffle and silent auction prizes made for some fierce bidding at our guests’ tables. Your kindness means that we can continue to operate our Big Brothers Big Sisters™ program.
The event raised nearly $300,000 in profit which was a great result – thanks to you and your generosity. In 2010-2011, YWCA NSW impacted over 30,000 people across NSW and the funds raised at Shanghai Chic will allow YWCA NSW to continue its valuable work supporting vulnerable families in disadvantaged communities across NSW. This includes our Big Brothers, Big Sisters™ mentoring program, which improves a young person’s self esteem, their relationships with their family and peers and their performance at school by matching them with an adult, role model.
