Volunteering is the practice of working on behalf of others without payment for your time and services. It is a marvelous thing to donate one’s skills and time and while volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity, you will end up not only helping others, but feeling better about yourself.
Volunteering takes many forms. YWCA NSW offers programs in areas where disadvantage is at its greatest in NSW and often in those areas, communities lack friends and neighbours able to help.
Volunteering provides enormous social, cultural and economic value to the YWCA NSW and the communities in which it operates. We have volunteers of all ages who contribute - from the Board of Directors through to our mentoring programs like Big Brother Big Sister and many more in between.
1. Mentors
We currently need male mentors for our Big Brothers Big Sisters and In School Mentoring programs.
2. Playgroup Volunteers
We currently need volunteers to help out at our Playgroups at our Yummy Cafe in Ambarvale.
Providing your talents or time to YWCA NSW is another vital way you can assist us.
1. Talents - We can utilise your expertise for specific projects and your business networks
2. Time - Volunteers make a vital difference to our work and we provide numerous volunteering opportunities for corporate employees. The benefits that individuals can gain from volunteering include enhanced communication skills‚ project management‚ teamwork and negotiation.
With a wide variety of local volunteering opportunities through YWCA NSW, your employees can experience changing lives for themselves. Find out how to partner with YWCA NSW so your employees can become involved with us.
