Green Corps Training

The YWCA provides the accredited training component of the Green Corps projects in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven. Participants, 17-20 years old complete modules towards the Certificate II in Australian Land Conservation and Restoration.

YWCA’s Green Corp projects have included environmental project work at coastal, river, rainforest and bushland sites around the Shoalhaven, and incorporates construction and regeneration work. “What really sets this project apart is the partnership the YWCA has developed with the Bay and Basin Resource Community Centre which has led to the development of a youth forum to identify the environmental, social and economic issues of concern to young people in the area”, says Graeme Gibson, Green Corps National Education and Training Manager. This component is planned to provide a sustainable benefit for the young people involved, and the community, well beyond the life of the project.
